  • Why Chiron in Aries Matters this Eclipse Season

Why Chiron in Aries Matters this Eclipse Season

The April 8th Eclipse in Aries will happen in an exact conjunction with the asteroid Chiron.

To understand the impact of Chiron in your natal chart as well as Chiron in transit. you need to understand the myth behind Chiron’s namesake.

The term transit is used to refer to the movement of a planet through the constellations. For example the suns transit through the sign of Aries takes roughly 28 days.

The Greek figure Chiron is a half man half horse demi-god, who’s parents Kronos and Philyra both abandoned him after child birth do to shame and disgust for his appearance. At the start of Chiron’s story he inherits a heavy karma from the actions of his conception.

He was taken in by Apollo, the sun god who taught him the art of medicine, herbs, music, archery, hunting, gymnastics, and prophecy, and made him rise above his beastly nature. Chiron was known for his knowledge and skill with medicine, and thus was credited with the discovery of botany and pharmacy, the science of herbs and medicine.

Although a centaur, Chiron’s physical appearance often differs somewhat from other centaurs, demonstrating his status and heritage. In traditional Greek representations of Chiron his front legs are human, rather than equine. This is in contrast to the traditional representation of centaurs, which have the entire lower body of a horse. This Made Chiron stand out physically as well as with his demeanor. Traditionally centaurs in Greek myth are described as wild, unclothed, lusty, overly indulgent drinkers and carousers, violent when intoxicated, and generally uncultured delinquents.

By honing his mind, Chiron was able to transcend stereotypes and create his own identity.

Later in life Chiron was pierced by an arrow treated with the blood of the hydra, this left a wound that was uncurable but could not kill him since he is immortal. Chiron spent the remainder of his life looking for a cure. He was unsuccessful in treating his own wound but was able to heal many others in his pursuits. This is where he gets his wounded healer title.

At the end of his life, he is able to get Hercules to convince Zeus to exchange his immortality with Prometheus so he could die and be at peace. Zeus took pity on him and placed him amongst the stars to be remembered forever as the constellation Centaurus.

Chiron’s story is tragic, Ironic, impactful, and endearing. While we are not immortal, and we have not been hit by an actual poison arrow. We all have deep wounds that we are dealing with. In our pursuit to master the more shameful, guilty, and . are able to in turn help others with similar afflictions.

Chiron can be associated with the feelings of: shame, guilt, pain, vulnerability, and can also be used as an overall health indicator.

So if you are feeling low energy, depressed, unsure, and/or lost. It’s okay, slow down or rest if you need to. You don’t have to have everything figured out right now. (you can thank mercury retrograde for that one) However, you do need to take the time to get in touch with yourself and your wants and needs. In the time around this eclipse, what are the things that are triggering you? good or bad. What makes you angry? Why? understanding those feelings are the secret to unlocking the wisdom of this eclipse and the Chiron transit in Aries.

In the coming weeks we have an opportunity to have a cathartic release, as an effect of the self reflection of the Eclipse. This is so we can move fearlessly into the future in spite of all of the reasons people tell us that we shouldn’t.

  • Mercury Retrograde in Aries Forecast

    Mercury Retrograde in Aries Forecast

Mercury stations retrograde at 26 degrees and 12 minutes of Aries. on April 1st 2024 @6:30 am EST

People with Cardinal placements between 15 – 30 degrees (ARIES, Libra, Cancer, Capricorn) will feel this energy the most. Fire signs are up next (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) and Scorpio (due to mars rulership in traditional astrology)

From April 01 to April 25th Mercury will appear to move backwards in the sky. The dispositor of this retrograde is Mars, which is in Pisces with in 10 degrees of Saturn.

What does dispositor mean? Dispositor is a term used to describe the ruling planet of an activated sign, and is used in astrology to bring additional detail to the event being looked at.

The energy of Mercury retrograde in Aries might feel a little weird. Aries likes action, instinct, inspirations, and passion. When Mercury normally spends it’s time in Aries communication is straight forward, fast, and witty. But a retrograde Mercury wants us to measure twice and cut once with our words. This is the antithesis of what Aries does normally, (instead of “ready, aim, fire Aries is fire, ready, aim). As a consequence we might feel ourselves spin out, like were doggy paddling in circles. As we enter this retrograde it’s important that we first protect our own energy and be patient with ourselves so we can be patient with others, because they’ll be experiencing the mercury retrograde too.

Earlier I mentioned that the dispositor of the retrograde would be Mars. Currently Mars is in the sign of Pisces. The energy of Mars in Pisces, is also a bit weird. Mars focuses on action, passion, and assertion. This is a stark contrast to the energy of Pisces which appreciates belief, connection, oneness, and flow.

This can shake out in a couple of ways:

    Less challenging:

When Mars is in Pisces there might be more energy to fight or protect the things we believe in….(I say protect because of the the close proximity of Saturn to Mars in Pisces). Or a passion for play and exploration as a means for pleasure, but be careful about over indulging. If you are feeling this energy, ride the wave. There is likely something you are meant to find, realize, or connect with that has been hidden from you that will help you get in touch with yourself ahead of the Aries eclipse.

    More challenging:

Another manifestation of this energy might be the dampening of passion, and a need to slow your roll. As Mars approaches Saturn in Pisces at the beginning of the mercury retrograde we are being checked by Saturn who’s been doing the work to clean up the energetic leaks in the Pisces part of our charts since the beginning of last year. And if the energy that we approach this conjunction causes us to burn out, or vaporizes our energy, or some how puts undue pressure on Saturn to move faster and produce results (it wont) (because Mars yields to Saturn in this scenario, and Mercury supports a slow down as well….Let me know if you want me to explain my reasoning for this) Our efforts might just get thrown in our face. This frustration, of perceived set back shouldn’t last the entire retrograde as mars moves away from Saturn, and approaches Neptune. Be cautious of retreating into negative coping mechanisms as we work with the energies.

  • New Moon in Pisces

    New Moon in Pisces

    Main aspects:

Sun & Moon conjunct in Pisces

Mars in Aquarius Square Uranus in Taurus

Sun and moon Pisces sextile Uranus in Taurus

    ~

Pisces is the sign of connection. When the Moon and Sun meet in this sign it will be within 10 degrees of the planet Neptune. This will magnify the Pisces energy for the next two to 4 weeks. Because of Neptune’s influence on this new moon there can be a mixed bag of energies.

A more easy manifestation of this energy would be a rebirth of creative and expansive energy that inspires us to be something greater than ourselves. It makes me think of that popular question, “ who would you be if you knew you wouldn’t be judged for it?”

The more challenging manifestation centers about lies and illusion. If you are struggling with the latter remember that Saturn is here to ground you in reality and help protect you from the things that drain your energy, including your self. Saturn often gets painted in a negative light, because it does all the things that are needed. It’s presence in Pisces is the dose of lucidity that will work on the part of your chart where Neptune is going unchecked.

Happening around this time is the Chiron conjunction with the north node. The north node is the part of the chart where we are being asked to develop further by rejecting things that aren’t working anymore in the libra part of the chart. Chiron is commonly associated with deep psychological wounds. Both of these energies together in the aries part of the chart will give us the opportunity to release wounds that are keeping us from being fearless.

This will be the last new moon before we kick off the energetic new year once the sun moves into Aries. If you practice manifestation and intention setting during the new moon this is a good time before we dive into eclipse season.

  • Full Moon in Virgo

    Full Moon in Virgo

The main players for this full moon, are the moon in Virgo and the Sun, Saturn, and Mercury in Pisces.

Prior to this full moon we had the conjunction between Mars and Venus in Aquarius and Chiron and the North Node in Aries.

    _

Virgo is the expression of ones self wholly, it is the sovereign power that one has over themselves and their immediate world. Where ever Virgo is in your chart is where you stive to be the best and most complete version of yourself.

When the moon is full in the sign of Virgo there is this energy of wanting to analyze, correct, and expel with the goal of becoming who we truly are.

When the moon becomes fully illuminated it will also be directly opposite Mercury and Saturn. Mercury is the planet of logic and communication and Saturn is the planet of consequence and structure. When we add these planets to the mix there is a sense of reckoning, something that must be removed from the equation to be able to reap the reward of this energy.

Depending on where this is happening in your chart this can manifest in different ways, you might feel the need to abstain from consuming things physically, mentally, and emotionally. You might feel the need to approach an interaction simply and honestly. You might find yourself reflecting on the goals you set back in the beginning of the year, and ask yourself does this reflect the mental image of my ideal self?

To go back to the heart of this forecast the full moon and oppositions in general are about finding the middle ground between two opposing forces and learning they are just two sides of the same coin. To expand you need logic and discretion. Your success is directly tied to your definition of it. And sometimes testing the boundary is a good way to learn where it is and how it affects you (please be safe).
